Regency House is located at 75-77 St Mary's Road within Sheffield City Centre. Historically the site has been used for student accommodation and is now surplus to requirements by owners Henley Investments. It is purpose-built accommodation for a managed and transient population, contained and also benefits from good connections to the city centre. With some modifications could be an ideal site for temporary asylum accommodation.
Regency House could accommodate up to 105 residents, including families. Numbers are likely to be less in the winter when there are less families as residents will only be transferred when capacity is exceeded at Wakefield. Communal rooms, courtyard space, a teaching room, meeting rooms, offices and laundry facilities will be provided. The site will be staffed 24/7 and there will be a resident welfare manager and a migrant help office with drop-in sessions available for residents.
